Blade Water Blade

 

Materials: Ink stick, ink stone, Chinese ink, onion, glass

This performance seeks to redefine sensibility towards ink as a material imbued with personal narratives and rhetoric, through an intimate bodily encounter with Chinese ink. The carbon-based, elemental entity is conceptualised here as a conduit, like a ghost; formless, indeterminate, receding like a puzzle of a shadow that had long resided. Deeply embedded in the human consciousness through its use, history, and place, it cuts through the toughest layers imaginable, sharp and jolting, like a well sharpened blade.
